City of a Thousand Towers

Visions, Dreams and other Portents

This post is a ‘holding’ place for visions, dreams and the like. Content is player specific so you will see only those visions that your character received, if any, as a player secret. I am not going to retroactively pull visions from earlier in the game but if you have one you want me to add, send me the text or link of it and I will add it to your player secret.

Following the defeat of the Count Francis-Flesh Golem, and after everyone received their gift from Iomedae (their first mythic tier), Blondie fell to his knees, looked into the sky with his eyes rolled into the back of his head and began speaking loudly in the alien language he uses in combat (due to his Oracle’s curse). It appears he is having a vision, but you will have to ask him for what he sees.

Is it pretty clear that these “visions” are due to my relationship with Iomedae? I’ve never experienced anything like this before, correct?

Also, am I able to distinguish past/present/future in these visions?

You’ve assumed the visions are from Iomedae but you aren’t sure. It might be the bronze dragon (your dragon paladin’s father) or possibly some other agent.

You don’thave a sense of time in the visions, other than that they are relevant to your present circumstance- they could be hypothetical future or near past or present.

Do you want me to handle talking with the party about this stuff out of game? Doesn’t seem like there’s too much to discuss … go to hunting lodge … find my bow!! :)

They all saw you go into a trance so they will certainly want to know what happened. Before the game or at start is fine, as you prefer.

Posting this email conversation in here so that all the relevant info is in one place.

I have knowledge Geography, Nature, and Dungeoneering all equal to 10. Can I use these to understand the locations in my visions more effectively? I’d like to both try to figure out where the lodge is, but also any clues in the dark “crypt” that Gareth and Suchet are in.

With your geography and nature knowledge, you quickly place the ridge: it is the same ridge you passed on the way to Ubeck except that in your vision, the ridge is surrounded by heavy woods whereas most of the land around Ubeck is farmland (or recently abandoned farmland due to the shadows). You are certain it is the same area though, but maybe in another time or place.

The ridge is very close to where you encountered the dryad, a creature that is rather unusual to find in the middle of well settled farmland.

On the crypt, there isn’t enough in your vision to go on anything.

You have a vision of a bow that no normal man can even string. You see it mounted above the mantle of a great hunting lodge. Above the bow is the head of a white stag with an immense antler rack.

You’ve never seen this hunting lodge in real life but there are stories about a great hunter who pursued his quarry into otherworld realms.

BTW you are fairly sure the two are in a crypt: they are lying each on a table of stone, stained with what looks to be the fluids of decomposition (from earlier entombment). At their head is a compartment filled with bones- this appears to be a family tomb where the dead are first set out in state and then, once decomposed, the bones are added to the family pile. This form of burial is common among the rural gentry but not the poor or the city folk.
